New Managing Director for Wood Richardson

For over 30 years, John Richardson has been at the helm of Wood Richardson, shaping the future for this York based firm and catapulting the business to the cutting edge of the printing world. Now he hands over the reins to his son, James who becomes the new Managing Director of one of the leading suppliers of in-house print and production services in the U.K.

Wood Richardson – a traditional family business since 1905 – has seen considerable change as the business has developed and adapted with changing printing trends and customer requirements over the years. John has been a leading light in the developments of the business and has been an enthusiastic mentor for his son James, who now bestows the honour of keeping it in the family and carrying on the excellent reputation Wood Richardson enjoys today.

 James Richardson, new Managing Director of Wood Richardson said: “What a great honour to be given the opportunity to take Wood Richardson forward as the incoming Managing Director. After studying a BSc (Hons) Print & Media Management at Leeds Metropolitan University, James has had a varied printing background including experience in many aspects of print management including offset and digital printing, print on demand and bindery and operations management. During his time already served at Wood Richardson James has introduced new shift patterns and flexible working to reduce company overheads and improve profitability without compromising on production output. He has also implemented and maintained the ISO 9001 standard.

FULL TIME PRINT ESTIMATOR

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a highly capable individual who is looking to join our Sales Team. We’re looking to appoint an Experienced Estimator with strong skills to provide a key role in the service delivery to all of our clients.

Part of a busy team, you will need a good breadth of understanding of Litho and Digital printing processes, combined with great telecommunication skills with both clients and suppliers. This post requires a high level of numeracy and an eye for detail while taking briefs from clients and costing print jobs.

The Role:

• Create accurately estimated print costs from given briefs, using Tharstern Primo MIS computer software.
• Request costings from suppliers.
• Discuss and advise briefs with clients.
• Process estimates into concise production instructions.
• Manage database of material costs/supplier and customer details.
• Handle a share of incoming telephone calls.
• 37.5 hours per week. 7.5 hour per day working hours staggered in alternate weeks, staring at either 8:15am or 9:30am with 30 minute lunch breaks.

The Requirements:

• Experience of Print Estimating Software is essential. Tharstern Primo MIS experience is preferred, though training will be given to right candidate.
• Computer literate to a good standard, working with Microsoft; Windows operating system, Word, Outlook and Excel Spreadsheets.
• Good communication skills.
